Endings

The wheel turned, cycle ending,
No more, no more my will bending.
A final parting, ties severed,
Stomach void, heart empty.

No more to run to His call,
No more bound in His thrall.
Head must rule where heart cannot,
Hands must now loose the knot

As the year old and grey,
Passes on, its debts to pay.
So the yearnings that lingered on,
Now must part, now begone!

From each sweet time , keep the good.
Part only with what I should.
        Fond memories stored apart,
Not allowed to tear my heart.

Those other times, when were they?
Gone, departed, no more I pray.
Vague, in the mists of time,
Exorcised by the power of rhyme.

As the New Year grows in time,
Now submissive, stay in line.
Obedient to He who cares,
Remembering in my prayers.

Slowly now submissive heart,
Beat gentle, be not apart.
Rest now within His care,
Trust that there is love to spare.

Ending now, dreams fading,
Eldritch shadows, darkly shading.
Memories of times so fey,
Gone in time, end of day.

Wounds cleansed, cauterised,
Borne in honour, thusly prized.
In my heart compassion reigns,
Triumphant now over pain.

Endings ended, travail cease,
Now my friends seek surcease.
Lay me down at Master’s feet,
Ask humbly once more me greet.
