Gretchen

1955 - 2004
Thank you for touching our hearts

Gretchen, also known as spreadeagle, died on Sunday, February 22nd, 2004. She died in the afternoon at her home suddenly from natural causes. She passed from us in the arms of her soulmate, lover and husband, Kevin.
She is survived by her husband, Kevin and her two daughters, and a globe full of people she reached out and touched.

Memorial Services were on Sun. Feb. 29th, 2004 at 1:00 PM EST at Gretchen's favorite beach, where she went to meditate and prayed for her friends.
Thank you for joining ATR at that time no matter where on the globe you are, and pausing for 60 seconds to offer up prayers of celebration of her life, and strength for her family.
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting that donations be made to NAAVAL and an aknowledgement will be sent to Gretchen's family for all donations.

NAAVAL (National Alliance Against Violence in all Alternative Lifestyles)

Her favorite poem is below, music on this page is Heaven Can Wait by Meatloaf, Gretchen's favorite group.

I SHALL WEAR PURPLE
When I am an old woman I shall wear purple
With a red hat which doesn't go, and doesn't suit me.
And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves
And satin sandals, and say we've no money for butter.

I shall sit down on the pavement when I'm tired
And gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells
And run my stick along the public railings
And make up for the sobriety of my youth.

I shall go out in my slippers in the rain
And pick flowers in other people's gardens
And learn to spit.
You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat
And eat three pounds of sausages at a go
Or only bread and pickle for a week
And hoard pens and pencils and beermats and things in boxes.

But now we must have clothes that keep us dry
And pay our rent and not swear in the street
And set a good example for the children.
We must have friends to dinner.and read the papers.

But maybe I ought to practice a littl now? So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised
When suddenly I am old, and start to wear purple.

Thank you from Gretchen's family, her many friends, and all of us all of us here at ATR.

Page put together with the love of cajunrose for a friend whose light burned out way too fast. I love you Gretchen, look down and laugh at us as we remember the many times you made us laugh at ourselves.
